KELLI'S KOOL HAIRCUT

Kelli is a gorgeous young college coed who is ready for a change. She wants her long blonde hair cut to a nice short bob. Now referred to as a "classic" style, the "BOB" haircut was anything but classic when it first gained popularity in the "Roaring 20's." Until the 1920's, women were expected to keep their hair long, but women rebelled against old societal norms and began cutting their hair short. This revolutionary style became a symbol of the rebellious women of the time, who were also fighting for the right to vote, for equal rights with men, for the right to work, and for independence from the backward thinking of the day.

We think Kelli looks great in this timeless style.

APRYL AND FRIENDS

VIDEO 16-17 NOW AVAILABLE

We are pleased and thrilled to announce the release of Video 16-17, "Apryl and Friends," featuring dozens of great haircuts.

It's been way too long since Apryl had a haircut!! Her hair is long and shaggy and badly in need of a good short wacking- especially the bangs!!

Apryl has put her hair in the hands of Michael O'Rourke, world famous stylist and perhaps the best hairstyling teacher anywhere.

THIS VIDEO WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY

Michael starts out by snipping the back in a hairline hugging inverted V.

Here, Michael snips off the sides. Notice that his shears are INSIDE his fingers as he holds Apryl's hair. This technique allows for fast, nearly perfect results the first time the hair is cut, eliminating the need to go back and snip again. The idea is to cut it right the first time.
Next to go are the bangs. Along with wacking off Apryl's bangs, Michael snipped off the bangs of many other models- right to the top of the forehead!!

We will be posting a lot of pictures EXCLUSIVELY on Makeover Magic. We will try to have several updates a day till we get all the pictures published, so make sure to stop by and visit.

APRYL'S WEIGHT WATCHING TIPS

My husband and I both LOVE to eat. Some people eat to live- WE LIVE TO EAT!! Over the years, we gained weight, with Curly hitting 250 pounds and me hitting 150 pounds- OK, 165. We needed to make some changes, and were not willing to stop eating- after all, you can stop smoking and you can stop drinking, but you pretty much can't stop EATING for more than 24 hours!!

We joined Weight Watchers, and have slowly and steadily lost weight since then. It's a well balanced diet, focused on low fat and low sugar intake.

The most important weapon in the FAT WAR is the SCALE. If you don't have one, get one that shows the weight down to the tenths of a pound- costs $25 at Wal Mart. If you do have a scale, dust it off- it's time to start using it!!

STEP 1- Step on the scale. You've now taken the most important step in controlling your weight- you now know how much you weigh. Make a habit out of stepping on the scale last thing at night and first thing in the morning.

For my husband, the number, 250 pounds (which he kept insisting was 220 until he got on the scale) represented years of "personal growth." Just for kicks, we consulted the Weight Watchers book to see what he's supposed to weigh- at 5' 10" he's supposed to weigh 170 pounds. ONLY 80 POUNDS TO LOSE.

Stepping on the scale became a morning and night habit, and it may have been the shock of the number- 250- that kept turning up in the evening that made my husband serious about losing weight. In the morning it was still 248.8, and for the first two weeks stayed surprisingly steady despite Curly's claims to be nearly starving to death and being poisoned by my latest Weight Watchers recipe. At least the dogs still think I'm a gourmet chef.

My husband can't eat without reading- he reads as voraciously as he eats.

He started reading the Weight Watchers books and pamphlets, commenting out loud on the "POINTS" that each food contained. Weight Watchers uses a POINT system for those challenged by the math of counting hundreds (thousands??) of calories.

A 250 pound man is supposed to survive on 24 points per day. The first problem was figuring out how to survive on 24 points for breakfast!!

He starts reading out loud how many points his breakfast at McDonald's was that morning- Saugage McMuffin, home fries, 2 apple pies and coffee- 30 points. Just the coffee with cream and sugar was 7 points!!

It soon becomes apparent that visits to McDonald's will not work as part of the Weight Watchers diet. Just looking at a McDonald's is 2 points. The Happy Meal is 21 points, and you're left wanting to eat the toy!!

There are some things that we found that we LOVE, and are perfectly "kosher" if you'll pardon the expression- on Weight Watchers.

Here's an example- TOMATOES. All you gardeners out there will be happy to learn that you can eat all the tomatoes you want and they DON'T EVEN COUNT AS ONE POINT!! Well sir, I grew up on a farm, and real homegrown tomatoes are a great treat, especially at this time of year, so eat some tomatoes! In Weight Watcher terms, THEY'RE FREE!!

Here's another- CUCUMBERS- again, ALL YOU CAN EAT FOR FREE. By the way, PICKLES count as cucumbers- they're free too!! Cut lots of cukes into a salad, or peel 'em and cut 'em into spears- they're crispy, crunchy, tasty and FREE!! Next time you sit down to Monday Night Football, a jar of pickles and a Diet soft drink will fill you up for FREE!! Other good football foods include cut up watermelon, cantaloupe or honeydew, cut up apples, carrots or celery. Instead of fried chips, try the new BAKED CHIPS for a lower fat alternative. If you like chocolate and ice cream (WHO DOESN'T?) try the fat free Fudgecicles. Find low fat snacks that you LOVE and you won't even want those fried potato chips- YUCK!!

Here's another- CORN ON THE COB- roasted on the grill- skip the butter and salt and the whole thing is ONE POINT- no problem eating 3 or 4 for the big eater!!

Tonight for dinner we're having chicken cooked out on the grill- 4 points each, and some grilled asparagus- just throw 'em on the grill, sprinkle with some lemon pepper and garlic powder- grill for 3-4 minutes so they're still crunchy.

Add a salad with tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce and onions with fat free dressing. A sumptuous low fat feast that gives up nothing on taste!!

What better way to get rid of jet lag!!

DON'T DO DAT!!

Here's a few DIET DON'TS that you need to watch out for:

Cheese- high fat. If you're gonna have a hamburger, skip the cheese.

Bloomin' Onion at Outback Steak House- at 72 points, this deep fried fat filled specialty of the house should be avoided at all costs!!

Krispy Creme donuts. Nuff said.

We'll be publishing more of Apryl's diet tips as soon as she writes 'em.

WAITING IN LINE FOR HAIRCUTS

VIDEOS 18-19 NOW AVAILABLE

Video 18-19 is entitled "Waiting in Line for Haircuts." It's just like in a dream- girls lined up for haircuts, waiting, in some cases for 2 hours to get their hair cut!! How many girls get their hair cut on these videos? It's hard to count- there's too many. The stylists are incredible, giving haircuts in 5 minutes flat!!

SAY GOODBYE TO YOUR PONYTAIL!!

This gal is saying goodbye to her ponytail. Here, in the final seconds before it is cut, she looks apprehensive- you would be too!!
Using giant scissors, the stylist cuts through the ponytail with powerful, merciless snips, taking it off in 4 or 5 snips.
She's smiling now, but her haircut's not over. In a minute, Wayne is going to do his Edward Scissorhands impression, chopping her hair way shorter still.

WAIST LENGTH TO SHORT IN 5 MINUTES

This brave volunteer is about to go from waist length to short in 5 minutes. Her hair is gathered into a massive ponytail and wacked off lickety split.
Then, both Wayne and Rod "Go to Town" with their best impersonation of Edward Scissorhands in a double team attack on what was left of this girl's hair.
While the haircut went fast and furious, we can assure you that the model was very glad she did it, and very happy with her new haircut.

THE SCISSORED BRUSH CUT

This picture really doesn't do justice to what's going on. The stylist is digging into this girl's hair with scissors in a wild frenzy of snipping. In the back, he gets even closer!!
Once again the picture doesn't do justice to the haircut. This girl's hair has been scissored to a perfect velvety fuzz no more than 3/8" long in back, and shaped so perfectly it's unbelievable!!

ONE DRY VODKA MARTINI

SHAKEN, NOT STIRRED

We were amazed at how much DRY haircutting was going on at this year's show. To me, dry haircutting is so much more exciting than wet cutting because you can see right away how it's looking.
We are pleased to report that a lot of haircuts were done with no wetting at all.
Tufts of dry blonde hair come down after meeting the stylist's shears.
Some pictures don't need commentary.

MAKING FACES

THE PHONEY SMILE- Before the haircut, this girl is smiling.

Inside, her stomach is filled with butterflies. She's very nervous, but keeps telling herself "I can do this." "I won't chicken out."

SLIGHT ANXIETY- The stylist pulls out a long piece of hair and prepares to cut. In a minute, there will be no turning back. "I can do this." "I won't chicken out."
HIGH ANXIETY- The moment of truth. The scissors are about to shnikk off her long hair, and she's more than a little nervous. "Hey, can I still chicken out?"
PRICELESS- This look is priceless!! The scissors are cutting, and she knows there's no chickening out now!!
The stylist can't help but notice how nervous his model is, and decides to have a little fun with her.

HE IS NOT GOING TO WACK OFF HER BANGS AT THE TOP OF HER FOREHEAD- BUT HE IS GOING TO MAKE HER THINK HE IS.

The stylist is going to snip the model's bangs at about the middle of her nose.

In an effort to totally terrorize this poor model, the stylist slides his scissors in at the top of the girl's forehead.

Let's go forward one second...

At this second, the girl is still thinking the stylist is cutting from the top of her forehead. It is at this point that he REALLY starts snipping off her bangs.

The look on her face says it all- she's nearly in tears.

One second later... Another great face as she reacts to seeing a big chunk of her bangs falling to the floor.

We will be working on the new videos and updating the site simultaneously for the next few days. We hope to have the videos ready for release in a few more days. There are a lot of haircuts, so make sure to stop by for new pictures.
