ENTREVISTA A CURLY (ESPAÑOL)
P.- ¿Cuándo sintió usted por primera vez que tenía
atracción por las mujeres que con la cabeza afeitada?. ¿Qué
sensaciones tenía usted al ver a ésas mujeres?.
R.- Yo creo que todo empezó cuando yo tenía unos 7 años.
Era el último día de escuela, y yo decidí que quería
un corte de pelo tipo "Butch". Años atrás, yo había
tenido durante el verano un corte a lo "Princeton" en el cual el pelo se
corta por debajo y alrededor de toda la cabeza, dejando solamente una línea
de pelo en la frente de no más de una pulgada. El "Princeton" me
gustó mucho, y con esa pelo (alrededor), yo no sentía que estuviera
calvo, aunque me sentía fresco en verano.
(Nota del traductor: para comprender mejor cuál ese estilo y
las sensaciones que comenta Curly, es el estilo de pelo que nosotros llamamos
"paje" con cuello y laterales altos y flequillo corto y a ras; ello proporciona
una sensación fresca con el calor. En éste estilo de pelo hay
variaciones, también con el pelo más largo).
Después de ese día, yo volví con mi padre a la
peluquería y tuve un estilo "Butch", calvo con una pelota. Fue un
sentimiento muy diferente de tener un Princeton!.
Yo me sentía desnudo sin pelo. Yo estaba afectado (N.T. acomplejado,
turbado)!!. Me coloqué un sombrero y no quise que nadie me viera..
Cuando mi mejor amigo vino a verme ese día, el se sintió confundido
al verme sin pelo. Francamente, no tuve el sentimiento de que lo calvo era
hermoso, especialmente en mi caso!.
Recuerdo ir al centro de la ciudad con mi madre el siguiente día.
Cuando nosotros andamos por las calles repletas de gente, recuerdo imaginarme
ver a todas las personas calvas, igual fueran hombres que mujeres. Y me
sorprendí al comprobar que diversión sentía imaginando
a todo el mundo calvo.
Unos días más tarde, mi familia y yo salimos a cenar,
y sentados cerca de nosotros había otra familia con una joven muchacha
de aproximadamente mi edad., rubia y muy bonita, con el pelo muy corto. Yo
pensé entonces que ella era la chica más bonita que yo jamás
había visto, y no podía apartar mis ojos de ella.
Esto fue en los años 60, cuando los Beatles eran populares y
el pelo corto no era común entre las chicas.(tampoco en los muchachos).
¡Yo imaginé como ella parecería calva, al igual que
imaginé al resto de las personas del restaurante, pero yo pensé
que ella era la más bonita de todos!.
Esa imagen de esa chica joven con ese pelo corto ha estrado en mí
durante muchos años, y yo aún puedo imaginármela. Desde
ese día "encendido", siempre me gustaron las mujeres con el pelo
corto.
P.- ¿Usted pensó que, en algún momento, acabaría
haciendo vídeos y que sería, probablemente, el productor
internacional más importante?:
R.- Yo nunca podía imaginar que nosotros produjéramos
videos (hair videos). Ello realmente comenzó aunando dos de mis
pasatiempos favoritos: los cortes de pelo y las pequeñas videograbaciones
familiares. Yo compré mi primera video cámara a la semana de
nacer mi primera hija, en 1986. Yo disfrutaba con las grabaciones de videos
familiares, y los niños verdaderamente se divertían mucho con
ello, pudiendo decir que no hay nada en sus vidas que no haya sido grabado
en video.
Mi interés por los videos comenzó realmente cuando yo
compré mi primer video, que era el vídeo en 8mm del afeitado
de Helen Sanger sobre 1980. (N.T: se refiere al famoso video que se anunciaba
en la mítica revista de los años ochenta "The Razor's Edge").
El me costó 75 $ (media paga semanal en esos días), y recuerdo
comer sandwiches de queso a la plancha durante una semana para poder permitirme
ese lujo. Yo llevé fuera de casa ese video, viéndolo durante
mucho tiempo (años), y desde entonces yo odio los sandwiches de queso
a la plancha.
Cuando nosotros comenzamos Haircut.net, los miembros del grupo comenzaron
a enviar videos de corte de pelo de TV y de películas, y nosotros
hicimos video capturas y las pusimos en este sitio. Al poco tiempo nosotros
comenzamos a producir nuestros propios videos. Fue difícil al principio,
y usamos un estudio provisional en nuestro garaje. Y con nuestra vieja video
cámara, pero el grupo soportó nuestro esfuerzo y nosotros
comenzamos a comprar buenas cámaras de video y comenzamos a hacer
algunos pequeños buenos videos. Cada vez que nosotros producíamos
un nuevo vídeo, nosotros recibimos sugerencias de todo el grupo de
cómo ir mejorando. Éstas sugerencias incluían todo lo
referente a las técnicas de corte, tomas medias, primeros planos,
planos amplios. Conseguimos guiones imaginarios para pequeñas puestas
en escena que nosotros podíamos hacer durante el corte de pelo.
Fundamentalmente llegamos a la conclusión de que necesitábamos
muchas cámaras de video para tomar muchos ángulos, de cerca,
lejos y durante la acción para ver cómo el pelo era cortado
desde diversas perspectivas.
Además de la información proporcionada por el grupo, nuestra
arma secreta era Apryl, que llevó a cabo un trabajo asombroso entre
bastidores. Ella hacía el maquillaje para las modelos, les mostró
la forma de posar durante las sesiones, y después nos sorprendió
cuando ella se metió y empezó a poner en práctica los
más fascinantes cortes de pelo. Nuestro grupo tiene una gran deuda
de gratitud por su incansable esfuerzo durante éstos años.
Si nosotros nos hemos convertido en el más importante productor
internacional de videos de cabezas afeitadas, mucho ha de reconocerse a
ella.
P.- Usted debe saber qué muchas personas de todo el mundo le
envidian., pero ¿hay alguien que haya tenido una mala reacción
a consecuencia de sus vídeos?.
R.- Sí, yo pienso que tengo el mejor trabajo del mundo. Ha sido
un sueño poder haber afeitado la cabeza no de una mujer, sino de cientos
de mujeres durante tantos años!. Está de más decir que
yo me siento muy afortunado. Y sí, yo he tenido muestras ocasionales
de mensajes de desagrado. Reconozcámoslo, el pelo corto no es para
todo el mundo, y de vez en cuando algún amante del pelo largo encuentra
nuestro sitio y odia lo que hacemos, expresando su malestar. Hace muchos
años, en 1950, cuando Dwight Eisenhower era Presidente, el Congreso
aprobó una ley con una votación de 399-1. Cuando se le
preguntó el Presidente Eisenhower dijo: "No importa lo que usted haga,
siempre habrá algún idiota que estará en contra".
P.- Yo imagino que hay muchos videos de gran aceptación.
¿Podría señalarnos algunos?. ¿Cuál es el motivo
por el cual piensa usted han sido tan aceptados?.
R.- Mary en el DVD 227-228 ha sido el más vendido. Nosotros
también hemos vendido muchas copias del DVD 34-35 de Alexandra, y
de Joy en el DVD 148-149. No hay ninguna duda de que a nuestro grupo le interesa
mucho ver como una muchacha bonita con pelo largo llega a una cabeza totalmente
afeitada. Entre las muchachas que terminan (solamente) con un pelo corto,
Amanda del número 179-180 es de lejos la más vendida.
P.- Y usted, ¿cuáles son sus videos favoritos?.
Yo diría que mis favoritos son Shannon y Naomí del DVD
177-178, Y Lorena y Montse del DVD 39 (Nota del traductor: Lorena y Montse
son dos chicas de España que, durante un viaje a USA, afeitaron sus
cabezas para la web. Hay fragmentos del video dónde se escuchan bastantes
palabras en un español sin acento, a la vez que hay otros pasajes
en dónde ellas hablan en inglés).
Shanon es bonita, voluptuosa, y parece fantástica antes, durante
y después de su afeitado. El hecho de que ella hiciera más
de mil millas para afeitar su cabeza por amor era asombroso!. Naomi perdió
31 pulgadas de pelo pasando de su pelo largo al afeitado en una tarde ¡Le
puso mucho valor! (N.T. "le echó muchos intestinos").
Montse y Lorena habían estado hablando sobre afeitar su cabeza
durante muchos meses. Cuando ellas finalmente vinieron y lo llevaron a cabo,
fue una tarde que yo nunca olvidaré.
P.- ¿Ha habido muchas mujeres que hayan lamentado cortar su
pelo?.
R.- Sí. Yo pienso que cada muchacha que haya decidido cortar
su pelo ha tenido momentos de pesar, unas más que otras. Después
de todo, no importa cómo de decidida esté usted para cortar
su pelo, todavía es una parte suya, y lleva tiempo volver a crecer,
y si usted me perdona el juego de palabras, usted está muy unido a
él. Lleva mucho valor (intestinos) para una mujer afeitar su cabeza,
y siempre habrá momentos de duda, no importa lo valiente que sea
usted.
P.- Y usted, ¿ha lamentado alguna vez cortar el pelo a alguna mujer?.
Si ha sido así, ¿cuál ha sido el motivo?.
R.- Cuando yo corté el pelo de Trisha en el DVD 169/170, yo me
sentí como un ejecutor de justicia (N.T. verdugo). Trisha y Desiree
habían hecho el pacto de que las dos afeitarían su cabeza para
conseguir dinero para un apartamento que compartirían. Desiree fue
la primera. Cuando el momento de la verdad vino para Trisha, ella estaba
a punto de empezar a llorar. Yo manejé con algún pesar los
clippers a través del pelo de Trisha, y ella empezó inmediatamente
a llorar. El pesar no me abandonó hasta el último momento con
Trisha. Cuando todo estuvo terminado, ella amó su cabeza afeitada,
y por tanto esta historia tuvo un final feliz.
P.- Nos gustaría mucho saber cuáles son las reacciones
habituales de las mujeres que han afeitado su cabeza. Por favor, hable de
sus experiencias personales, con sus amigos, en el trabajo, en la vida
diaria.
R.- Normalmente yo hablo con ellas una par de días después
de que ellas han sido afeitadas para saber cómo ha reaccionado la
gente. La reacción más frecuente que ellas encuentran en sus
amigas es la admiración por su valentía, y que ellas están
bellas, pero que nunca tendrían el valor para hacer lo mismo. Una
mujer que afeita su cabeza incluso en éstos días y con su edad,
hace un acto de valentía. Muchas de las mujeres dicen que todas las
reacciones son positivas, de sus maridos, novios, jefes y familiares.. Algunas
de ellas comentaron que (incluso) provocaron algún accidente de coche
cuando la gente que conducía no pudieron apartar la vista de su cabeza
afeitada y se golpearon con otro coche. La mayoría refiere que han
obtenido una mayor atención.
P.- Es muy interesante saber si muchas de éstas mujeres han
continuado después afeitando su cabeza. ¿Afeitan ellas mismas
su cabeza?. ¿Qué método utilizan, lo hacen en casa, van
a la peluquería?.
R.- Leah del DVD 1-2 es indudablemente la que posee el mayor registro
de tiempo, después de haber tenido su cabeza afeitada durante los
dos años siguientes a su afeitado. Ella era parte de un espectáculo
con clowns, personificando a Marilyn Monroe. En un momento, ella se desprende
de su peluca y consigue entonces un gran aplauso. La mayoría deja
crecer su pelo en seguida. Algunas han regresado para un segundo e incluso
un tercer afeitado, como Linda del DVD 165/166 y Abby del vídeo
191/192.
P.- Yo imagino que las mujeres reciben normalmente dinero por cortar
su pelo. Pero, ¿ellas cortan siempre su pelo por dinero?.
R.- Todas nuestras modelos están pagadas. Muchas de ellas afeitan
su cabeza por dinero, al menos eso es lo que dicen. Yo pienso que el dinero
es un incentivo, pero muchas mujeres no afeitarían sus cabezas ni
por un millón de dólares. Yo pienso que la mayoría de
nuestras modelos quieren ver como ellas parecen con su cabeza afeitada. Yo
creo que ellas quieren experimentar teniendo una cabeza afeitada alguna vez
en su vida. Nosotros hemos tenido algunas muchachas que nos han dicho que
lo harían para sentirse libres, y yo les pago un extra pues éstas
son mi tipo de chicas!.
P.- No sé si es una pregunta impropia (preguntar) cuál
es la cantidad de dinero que paga usted a una mujer por afeitar su cabeza.
¿Es una cantidad fija o es una cantidad que se negocia?.
R.- Yo intento pagar a cada modelo tanto cómo es posible, teniendo
presente que nosotros somos un grupo pequeño y que las ventas de los
DVDs han de soportar los costes de producción. La mayor parte de nuestras
modelos gana aproximadamente sobre unos 500$ por cortar su pelo largo al
afeitado. Una muchacha con el pelo por la cintura particularmente bonito
puede llegar a conseguir hasta 1000 dólares o más.
P.- Si no es una pregunta inoportuna, nos gustaría saber el promedio
de venta para cada vídeo. Es decir, cuántas copias son suficientes
para considerar un video aceptable al respecto.
R.- La media de ventas es de 50-75 copias. Una gran venta llega hasta
los 100-200. Nuestras mejores ventas son Trisha del DVD 169/170, Mary en
el DVD 227/228, Alexandria del DVD 34/35, y Joy en el DVD número
148-149.
P.- En relación con lo anterior, ¿es suficiente la venta
de un video para pagar los costos?. Yo imagino que quizá algunos videos
no cubran gastos.
R.- Normalmente nosotros cubrimos los gastos provenientes de pagar a
las modelos. Nuestro problema es con la renovación de las cámaras
de vídeo (de 2000 a 4000 $), ordenadores y mantenimiento de los equipos
de edición.
P.- Cuando una mujer decide afeitar su cabeza, nosotros ya sabemos que
el dinero puede ser un estímulo (o incluso un "pretexto"), pero por
favor háblenos más de las razones personales más
"profundas".
R.- Yo pienso que todas las personas, indistintamente hombres y mujeres,
han imaginado lo que ellos parecerían sin el pelo. Para algunas personas,
esto es de lo más temeroso imaginable. Para otras, aún siendo
asustadizo, es algo que les gustaría llevar a cabo. Por tanto, yo
pienso a menudo que el dinero actúa como un pretexto para llevar a
cabo el deseo por encima del miedo. Para algunas de nuestras modelos, la
"parte asustadiza" es parte de la excitación pues gusta conducir con
riesgo (N.T. se refiere al placer y la excitación que conlleva en
sí el riesgo). Muchas de nuestras modelos vienen a nuestro estudio
intentando tener una buena experiencia, y ellas disfrutan teniendo sus cabezas
afeitadas y tener el mayor sentimiento de excitación posible con la
experiencia.
P.- ¿Cómo obtiene usted las modelos?.
R.- ¡De cualquier forma posible!. Nosotros ponemos anuncios en
periódicos, en agencias de modelos profesionales y con el boca a boca.
Nosotros pagamos una comisión a un "buscador" de modelos para conseguir
gente que quiera cortar su pelo. Ocasionalmente, nosotros también
conseguimos modelos que son las novias o esposas de los miembros del
grupo.
P.- Sabemos que tiene un gran apoyo en Apryl. Ella es una mujer
fantástica y maravillosa, comprensiva, una compañera ideal.
Y esto nos lleva a una pregunta obligada. ¿Tiene el deseo Apryl de
algún día afeitar su cabeza?. Es decir, nosotros quisiéramos
saber si ella algún día afeitaría su cabeza, y si ella
lo haría para satisfacer a su marido, a los muchos admiradores que
tiene por todo el mundo, o por que ella quisiera tener esa experiencia personal.
O todo a la vez.
R.- Apryl dice que ella probablemente afeite su cabeza cuando ella se
retire (jubile) de las líneas aéreas, y lo sería para
satisfacerme. Nosotros no queremos dar la impresión de que somos una
pareja perfecta. ¡No lo somos!. Estamos durante muchos momentos discutiendo,
parece que estamos de acuerdo en pocas cosas, pero sí lo estamos en
las cosas importantes. Nosotros tenemos áreas de responsabilidad propia.
Por ejemplo, Apryl es la encargada de la casa, ella decide las remodelaciones,
los colores, los armarios, espejos, etc. Yo puedo expresar mi opinión,
pero finalmente, es su decisión. En la oficina, soy yo quien decide.
Pensamos que es muy importante concedernos un poder absoluto en nuestros
propios dominios, y nunca sobrepasar esa autoridad. La misma situación
adoptamos con los hijos. En nuestra casa, la Corte de Apelación está
siempre cerrada.
P.- Yo imagino que usted realiza los vídeos en un estudio en
su propia casa. ¿Es ello así?, ¿Dónde
está?.
R.- El estudio está en el garaje, es el mismo de siempre. A
través de los años hemos hecho muchas transformaciones en él.
Empezó con unas paredes desnudas de 2x4's cubiertas con lonas de tela.
Nosotros agregamos paneles, espejos, calefacción y aire acondicionado.
Ahora mismo estamos hablando de cambiar las sillas, y comprar los sillones
"auténticos" de las antiguas peluquerías. Lo único que
todavía tenemos que aclarar es cómo conseguir hacer que la
silla sea portátil para poder desplazarla a través del estudio
entre las sesiones con modelos, y cómo llevarlo a cabo pues las
auténticas sillas de barbero pesan centenares de libras. Si alguien
tiene una buena solución para éste problema, nos gustaría
mucho escucharla.
P.- ¿Paga usted habitualmente los gastos de desplazamiento de las
modelos para ir al estudio?.
R.- No, al menos que venga de una larga distancia. Hemos tenido modelos
que han viajado muchas millas y hemos llegado a un acuerdo para cubrir los
gastos de gas, comida, etc.
P.- Otra pregunta interesante es conocer si las mujeres que han afeitado
su cabeza usan pelucas al salir del estudio, o si ellas muestran su nueva
imagen inmediatamente sin miedo o vergüenza.
R.- La mayoría muestran sus cabezas afeitadas cuando salen del
estudio y nosotros las animamos para ello. Durante el invierno, nosotros
sugerimos un sombrero. Nosotros tenemos un buen surtido de pelucas, que damos
a nuestras modelos libremente si ellas necesitan tener pelo para ir a trabajar.
Algunos empresarios conservadores no permitirían a una mujer trabajar
mostrándose en público sin pelo, mientras que otros muestran
su apoyo y comprensión. La historia más divertida ocurrió
con una chica llamada Carmen, que trabajaba en la empresa de contabilidad
más importante del mundo, Arthur Anderson y Compañía.
Carmen había venido a prestar su apoyo moral a Aimee, su mejor amiga.
Aimee había tenido un gran momento cuando ella afeitó su cabeza,
y contagió con su entusiasmo a Carmen, que entonces decidió
afeitar su cabeza a la vez que Aimee. Ella tuvo miedo de perder su trabajo,
y le sugerimos que probara algunas pelucas., y así ella podría
llevarla mientras estuviese trabajando. Ella se probó muchas pelucas
y encontró una que le gustó, y decidió entonces seguir
con el afeitado (que fue fascinante). Dos días más tarde, Arthur
Anderson se declaró en quiebra, por lo que yo pienso que ellos
tenían problemas más importantes que el que Carmen fuera a
trabajar sin pelo.
P.- ¿Ha mantenido usted contacto después con esas mujeres,
o con algunas de ellas?.
R.- Habitualmente yo las llamo un día o dos después del
corte de pelo para saber cómo sus amigos y familiares han reaccionado
con su corte de pelo. Normalmente vuelvo a llamar unos meses más tarde
solamente para mantener el contacto. Algunas veces esa segunda llamada conlleva
un segundo afeitado, como es el caso de Cherry, Abby, Linda, y otras
frecuentemente sirve para que vengan otros familiares o amigas a afeitarse
la cabeza.
P.- Yo imagino que hay fantásticas mujeres con su nueva imagen
que nos gustaría volver a ver otra vez. Yo pienso en Millie, Charity,
Abby, etc. pero también en muchas más. ¿Ha intentando
usted que ellas cortaran su pelo de nuevo?.
R.- Sí!!. Yo hace poco tuve noticias de que Millie había
dejado crecer su pelo, y ahora es largo y rubio, y yo he estado intentando,
pero es difícil, que ella vuelva para afeitarse de nuevo. Yo pienso
que ella es una de las más preciosa mujeres calvas de todos los tiempos
y me encantaría ver de nuevo su belleza calva.
P.- ¿Ha pensado en alguna persona famosa que sería más
sexy con la cabeza afeitada?. Es decir, ¿a qué mujer muy conocida
le gustaría afeitar?.
R.- Charlize Theron, Reese Witherspoon, Kelly Lebrock, Nicole Kidman,
Angelina Jolie, Tea Leoni, Jamie Lee Curtis y Natalie Gulbis, todas las cuales
yo pienso estarían muy bien sus cabezas afeitadas.
P.- Finalmente, ¿hay algún mensaje que usted quiera enviar?.
Usted sabe que ésta entrevista se publicará en español

R.- Sí, yo quiero dar las gracias a todos los miembros del grupo
por su apoyo. Los miembros de nuestro grupo viven en diversos países,
ciudades, pueblos y aldeas. Nos extendemos por todas partes. NOSOTROS NO

(our resident psychologist from Spain) and I have been working for quite
a while on an interview/article to be published in both English and Spanish.
Basili and I have become good friends over the years, and he has written
some amazing articles for HAIRCUT.NET. I want to thank Basili for doing the
interview with me and hope you'll all enjoy the results.

Q: When did you first feel an attraction for women with shaved hair.
What sensations did you have when you saw these women? |

A: I believe it all started when I was 7 years old. It was the last
day of school, and I decided that I wanted a "Butch" haircut. In past years,
I had gotten a "Princeton" haircut for the summer, in which the hair is clipped
off to the scalp all over, leaving just a line of bangs in front about an
inch long. I liked the Princeton a lot, and because I still had the bangs,
didn't feel bald, yet it was cool in the summer having almost no hair. Later
that day, I went with my Dad to the barber shop and got my Butch haircut-
bald as a cueball. It definitely felt different than the Princeton- A LOT
DIFFERENT!! |

I felt naked without hair. I was embarrased!! I put on a hat and
didn't want anyone to see me. When my best friend came over later that day,
he was shocked at the sight of me with no hair. I was definitely NOT feeling
that bald was beautiful- especially on me!! |

I remember going downtown with my Mom the next day. As we walked
the crowded streets, I remember picturing everyone I saw bald- men and women
alike. I was surprised at how much fun it was- imagining everyone I saw bald.
A few days later I went out to dinner with my family and sitting next
to us was another family with a young girl about my age, very pretty and
blonde, with very short hair. I thought she was the most beautiful girl I
ever saw, and couldn't keep my eyes off her. |

This was the 60's, when the Beatles were popular and short hair
was uncommon on girls- boys too. I imagined how she would look bald, just
as I imagined everyone else in the restaurant bald, but I imagined that young
girl would be the prettiest of all- even bald!!
The image of the young girl with the short hair stayed with me for a
long time- I can still picture her to this day. From that day on, I always
liked girls with short hair. |

Q: Did you think at some time that would end up making video and
that it would be, probably, the most important international producer? |
ANJA |
A: No - never imagined that I would produce hair videos. It really
started with two of my favorite hobbies- haircuts and shooting videos. I
bought my first video camera the week our first daughter was born- in 1986.
I enjoyed shooting family videos and the kids actually made fun of me, saying
there wasn't anything in their lives that I hadn't videotaped. |

My interest in hair videos started when I bought my first one- an
8 mm film of Helen Sanger's headshave back in 1980. It cost me $75 (half
a week's pay in those days- about $300 in today's dollars) and I remember
eating grilled cheese sandwiches for a week so I could afford it. I nearly
wore out the film, watching it so many times. When we started HAIRCUT.NET
the members of the group sent in videos of haircuts from TV and the movies,
and we made video captures and posted them on the site. Soon we began producing
our own videos. It was pretty crude at first, using a makeshift studio in
our garage and our ancient video camera, but the group supported our efforts
and we soon purchased good cameras and started making some pretty good videos.

Each time we produced a new video, we got feedback from almost everyone
in the group on how to improve. The feedback included everything from lighting
to haircutting techniques, shooting angles, close-ups, wide shots. We got

we figured out that you need lots of cameras shooting from lots of angles,
close up, far away and in between and mostly making sure that you SEE THE
HAIR BEING CUT. |

In addition to feedback from the group, our secret weapon was Apryl,
who did amazing work behind the scenes. She did the makeup for the models,
showed them how to pose during their modeling sessions and then surprised
us all when she jumped in and started giving the most amazing haircuts!!
Our group owes Apryl a great debt of gratitude for her tireless efforts over
the years. If we have become the most important international producer of
headshaving videos, much of the credit goes to Apryl. |

Q: You should know that many people from all over the world envy
you. But, is there somebody that has reacted bad because you carry out these
videos?

A: Yes, I think I have the best job in the world. It's like a dream
come true getting to shave the head of one woman, let alone HUNDREDS over
the years!! Suffice it to say that I feel very lucky. And yes, I get an
occasional piece of hate mail. Let's face it- short hair is not for everyone,
and once in a while a long hair lover finds our site and hates what we're
doing, and expresses his dislike. Back in the 1950's when Dwight D. Eisenhower
was President, the Congress passed a law by a vote of 399-1. When asked about
the vote, President Eisenhower said "No matter what you do, there's
always some idiot who will be against it." |

Q: I imagine that some videos have had great acceptance. Could you
point out to us some videotapes of great acceptance?. Why do you think that
these videos have been more accepted?

MARY |
A: Mary has been the biggest seller this year (DVD 227-8). We've
also sold a lot of copies of Alexandria's DVD 34-5 and Joy on DVD 148-9.
There's no doubt that our group loves to watch beautiful girls with long
hair going all the way to a shaved head. Among the girls getting buzz cuts,
Amanda is by far the biggest seller on DVD 179-80. |

Q: And you, do you have favorite videos? |
MONTSEE |
A: I would say my favorites are Shannon and Naomi on DVD 177-8 and
Lorena and Montsee on DVD 39. Shannon is beautiful, voluptuous and looks
great before, during and after her headshave. The fact that she drove a thousand
miles to shave her head for love makes her simply amazing! Naomi lost 31
inches of hair, going from waist length to shaved in one afternoon. It took
a lot of guts!! Lorena and Montsee had been talking about shaving their heads
for months. When they finally came and did it, it was an evening I'll never
forget, partially because it took so long to "reel them in" if you'll excuse
the fishing term. |

Q: Have there been many women that have regretted cutting their
hair? |
LEA |
A: Yes, I think every girl who has shaved her head has had moments
of regret- some more than others. After all, no matter how determined you
are to cut your hair, it's still a part of you- it takes a long time to grow,
and if you'll pardon the pun, you're very attached to it. It takes a lot
of guts for a woman to shave her head, and there will always be moments of
doubt, no matter how brave you are. |

Q: Have you regretted to cut the hair to some woman? If it is this
way, reason? |
TRYSHA |
A: When I cut Trisha's hair on DVD 169-70, I felt like the executioner.
Trisha and Desiree had made a pact to both shave their heads in order to
earn money to get an apartment together. Desiree went first. When Trisha's
"moment of truth" came, she was nearly in tears. It was with some regret
that I drove the clippers through Trisha's hair, and she immediately started
to cry. The regret didn't last long for me or for Trisha. By the time we
finished, she loved her shaved head, so the story has a happy ending. |

Q: We would like a lot of knowledge the most habitual and frequent
reactions in the women that have shaved their heads. Please, speak of the
personal experiences of those women, in their friends, their work, their
daily life.
A: I usually call the models one or two days after their headshaves
to see how people reacted. The most frequent reaction they get is from friends
who say they admire their bravery and that they look beautiful, but they
would never have the guts to do it. |
BETHANY |
A woman shaving her head- even in this day and age, takes a lot
of bravery. Many of the women report that all the reactions are positive,
from husbands, boyfriends, bosses and family members. A few girls reported
that they caused car accidents when people driving down the road couldn't
keep their eyes off their bald head and hit other cars. Most report that
it's a major attention getter. |
EMILY |
Q: It is also very interesting to know if many of these women have
continued shaving their head later. Do they shave their head themselves?
What method have they used, do they make it at home, do they go to
hairdressers?
A: Leah from DVD 1-2 is undoubtedly the record holder, having kept her
head shaved for the past two years since her headshave. She shaves her head
twice a week in the shower. Her favorite razor is the Mach III. |
CHERRY/TINA |
She has made her baldness a part of her clown act as well as
her Marilyn Monroe impersonation act. In each case, she pulls off her wig
and gets thunderous applause.
Most of the models grow back their hair right away. Several have come
back for a second and even third headshave, like Linda on DVD 165-6 and Abby
on DVD 191-2 and Cherry on DVD 187-8 and Cherry's Revenge on DVD 197-8. |

Q: I imagine that the women usually receive money to cut their hair.
Do they always cut their the hair for money?

BROOKE |
A: All of our models are paid. Many of them are shaving their heads
for the money- or so they say. I believe the money is an incentive, but many
women would never shave their heads, not even for a million dollars. I think
most of our models want to see how they look with a shaved head. I think
they want to experience a shaved head once in their lives. We've had some
girls say they would do it for free, like Brooke, and usually I pay them
extra- these are my kind of girls!! |
CHERRY |
Q: If it is not an inappropriate question, what is the approximate
quantity that you pay to a woman to shave her head? Is a fixed quantity or
is a quantity that is negotiated? |
JULIE |
A: I try to pay each model as much as possible, keeping in mind
that we are a small group and the sales of DVD's have to support our production
costs. Most of our models earn about $500 for going from shoulder length
to shaved. A girl with waist length hair who is particularly beautiful can
earn $1,000 or more. |
TRISHA |
Q: If neither an inconvenient question is, which is the sale average
for video?. That is to say, how many copy ago you of a video that is very
accepted.

A: The average sales are 50-75 copies. A really good seller will
sell 100-200 copies. Our best sellers are Mary on DVD 227-8, Trisha on DVD
169-70, Alexandria on DVD 34-5, and Joy on DVD 148-9. |

Q: In connection with the above-mentioned, is the sale of a video
enough to pay the expenses? I also imagine that some videos don't cover the
expenses. |
JANET |
A: We normally cover our expenses for the modeling fees. We have
trouble with "wish list" items like cameras ($2-4,000 each), computers and
editing equipment. |
FRANCES |
Q: When a woman decides to shave her head, we already know that
the money can be a "stimulus" (or even a "pretext"), but please speak of
the personal reasons more "deep."

A: I think that everyone in the world- men and women alike- imagine
what they would look like without hair. To some people, this is the scariest
thing imaginable. To others, while being scary, it's something they would
like to do. Thus, I think the money often acts as a pretext for the desire
to try the scariest haircut imaginable. For some of our models, the "scary"
part is just part of the excitement- like riding a roller coaster. Many of
our models come to our studio intending to have a good time, and they enjoy
having their heads shaved and the many exciting feelings that go with the
experience. |

Q: How do you obtain the models? |
APRIL |
A: Any way we can! We use newspaper advertising, professional modeling
agencies and word of mouth. We pay a "finder's fee" to our models for finding
someone else to come and get their hair cut. Occasionally we also get models
who are girlfriends or wives of members of the group. |
CRYSTAL |
Q: We know that you have a great support in Apryl. Apryl is a fantastic
and wonderful, understanding woman, an ideal partner. And this is another
obliged question. Does Apryl have the desire to shave her head some day?
That is to say, we wanted to know if some day she would shave her head, and
if she would make it to satisfy her husband, to the many admirers from all
over the world, or because she herself wants to have that personal experience.
Or everything at the same time. |
HELENE |
A: Apryl says she'll probably shave her head when she retires from
the airline, and will do it to satisfy me.
We don't want to give the impression that we're the perfect couple.
We're not!! We fight all the time, we agree on almost nothing, and yet we
seem to agree on the important things. We also have specific areas of authority.

NICOLE |
For example, Apryl is in charge of the house- she decides on all
remodeling, colors, cabinets, mirrors, etc. I can voice my opinion, but in
the end, it's her decision. In the office, I get to decide. We think it's
important to give each other absolute power in our own realms, and never
overstep the other's authority. The same holds true when it comes to the
kids. In our house, the Court of Appeals is always closed. |
JACQUELINE |
Q: I imagine that you record the videotapes in your own house in
the study. Is it this way? Where is it? |
MEGAN |
A: The studio is in the garage, same as always. We've done a lot
of upgrades over the years to the studio. It started with bare 2 x 4's covered
with canvas backdrops. We added paneling, mirrors, heat and air conditioning.
Right now we're talking about changing chairs- purchasing a "real" old time
barber chair. The only thing we still have to figure out is how to make the
chair portable- we have to be able to slide the chair in and out of the "center
stage" area of the studio in between modeling sessions, and most old time
barber chairs weigh hundreds of pounds. If anyone out there has a good solution
to this problem, we'd love to hear it. |
JENNIFER |
Q: Do you usually pay travel expenses to the studio? |
AMBER |
A: Not unless the girl is coming from a long distance. We've had
models travel many miles, and usually we make agreements ahead of time to
cover the cost of gas, meals, etc. |

Q: Another interesting question is to know if the women that have
shaved their heads, use wigs then to leave the recording studio, or if they
show their new image immediately without fear or shame. |
SUMMER |
A: Most show off their shaved heads coming out of the studio- we
encourage them to do so. In the middle of winter, we suggest a hat. We keep
a nice assortment of wigs in the studio, which we give our models for free
if they are required to have hair at work. Some conservative employers would
not allow a woman to show up for a "public exposure" job without hair, while
others are understanding and supportive. The funniest story along these lines
happened with a girl named Carmen, who worked for the largest accounting
firm in the world, Arthur Anderson and Company. |
CARMEN |
Carmen came along to lend moral support to Aimee, her best friend.
Aimee had a GREAT TIME getting her head shaved, and her enthusiasm was so
contagious that Carmen wanted to shave her head by the time Aimee was done.
Carmen was afraid of losing her job, so we told her to try on some wigs,
and that she could keep any wig she chose and could go to work wearing a
wig. She tried on lots of wigs, found one she liked, and decided to go ahead
with the headshave (which was AMAZING). Two days later, Arthur Anderson declared
bankruptcy, so I guess they had bigger problems than whether Carmen came
to work with hair. |

Q: Have you maintained the contact later with those women, or with
some of them?
A: I usually call them a day or two after the haircut to hear how friends
and relatives reacted to the haircut. I usually call again a few months later
just to stay in touch. Many times the followup phone call leads to a second
headshave- such as with Cherry, Abby, Linda and others- oftentime leading
to friends and relatives of the models also coming along for headshaves. |
CHARITY |
Q: I imagine that there are fantastic women with their new image
that we would like see again again. I think of Millie, Charity, Abby, etc.
but also many more. Have you attempted that they cut their hair again? |
MILLIE |
A: Yes!! I recently heard from Millie, who has grown her hair out-
it's now long and blonde and I'm trying hard to get her to come for a re-shave.
I think she's one of the most beautiful bald women of all time and would
love to see her go back to bald beauty. |
MEGAN |
Q: Have you thought of some famous person that would be even sexier
with their shaved head? That is to say, what famous woman you would like
to shave? |
BRANDY |
A: Charlize Theron, Reese Witherspoon, Kelly Lebrock, Nicole Kidman,
Angelina Jolie, Tea Leoni, Jamie Lee Curtis and Natalie Gulbis, to name just
a few, all of which I think would look GREAT with their heads shaved. |

and then shaved smooth. There is nudity in several of the segments in this

If there was a show called "America's Funniest Haircuts," this video
would win first prize!! Before we started her haircut, we spoke to Leah at
length about whether to shave her head. For her this is a career move, as
she is planning to keep her head shaved and use her bald head as part of
her act- ripping off her wig during the show to get laughs. Rated L for Lots

She also does a Marilyn Monroe impersonation act, and she wears
a wig for the act, so that won't be affected by her new hairstyle. You'd
think clowning around is easy, but Leah assures us she needs to work out
several times a week and stay in shape in order to have the energy to do
her "clowning around." We first did a FLAT TOP, which looked
simply AWESOME. Leah played with her new haircut for a long time, and then
determinedly (is that a word?) got back in the chair and instructed: "TAKE
IT OFF!! TAKE IT ALL OFF!! |

As the clippers ran right down the middle, we thought Leah would
cry, but she started smiling. "I love it," she said, "Take the rest off!!"
and of course, clowning and making faces the whole time." When the headshaving
was complete, Leah put on quite a show of clowning around- undoubtedly the
funniest model we've ever seen. |

We're quite sure this was a good career move for her, and we're
looking forward to hearing the stories of people's reactions to her bald
head as part of her act. This is one of the most entertaining videos we've
ever produced. If you like a good comedy, you're going to LOVE this
video!! |

FOLLOWUP REPORT- At this writing, 4 months after Leah's head shave,
I spoke to her and she said all the feedback on her headshave was positive-
boyfriend, family, schoolmates and yes- the professors!! all gave Leah positive
feedback. "I shave my head every day," she said. "I jump in the shower in
the morning, get my head nice and wet and warm, put on the shaving cream
and shave it with the Mach III razor." She reports that her clown act is
"much funnier" because she's bald, and several of her schoolmates are thinking
about shaving their heads. And now we pause for a moment of jealousy of Leah's
boyfriend.....

cut her own hair, especially her

Today she's going to have all her long hair snipped off, clipped
off and shaved smooth. She calmly sits in the chair, and we start
her haircut with the scissors. We snip off her bangs right to
the scalp, and then start snipping off her long hair right to the scalp,
snipping her hair into a chili bowl haircut. |

A mountain of hair is cut, with still more to go!! When
the chili bowl is complete, we run the clippers like they're stolen, taking
off the rest of Sara's hair in a matter of a few minutes. We
then apply the shaving cream and shave Sara smooth with the Mach III razor.

Sara feels her smoothly half-shaved scalp for the first time. Once
she gets used to her new hairless look, she smiles and says she's glad she
did it!!
We think Sara looks much better without her long hair. Do you agree?

What kind of haircut did Valerie get? She said "I don't
want to shave my head, but you can cut it VERY VERY SHORT." We
lopped off her long hair- stretching out each piece and then lopping 'em
off with the scissors and dropping the hair in Valerie's lap. The looks on
Valerie's face as her hair is dropped in her lap are precious!! |

Then we pull out the clippers and give Valerie a FLAT TOP, which
is a particularly good trick on a girl whose bangs are trained to go forward.
The trick is to use pomade, and don't by shy- it will hoist the
most reluctant bangs to "attention" for clipping a beautifully
sculpted FLAT TOP. I was very proud of the FLAT TOP- looked great on
a great, pretty model. Valerie wanted to go even shorter!! She
said she really liked the sides and back (clipped with the number 3
1/2 metal blade on the Rapid Fire clippers), and said she wanted
it all buzzed to that length- just over a quarter inch long. |

She got back in the chair, and we buzzed off the FLAT TOP (starting
by running the clippers right down the middle), and again Valerie's facial
expressions are precious as she feels the clippers running mercilessly over
her head. In moments, her hair is buzzed to a velvety
BUZZ-CUT. Valerie is proof that a woman doesn't need long hair to be
beautiful.

Is Abby the most beautiful bald girl of all time? Many of us think
so. She's pretty nervous as she gets in the Barber Chair and even more nervous

We watch in amazement as in the next five minutes, all of Abby's
hair is clipped on and tumbles down to her lap and the floor.
Abby sits in stunned silence, wondering "was this such a good idea?" It takes
her a while to get used to her new haircut, but sometimes the things
that take a while to get used to become the things we love the most!!
