When the hair is cut in short layers, it "poofs up" better (that's the technical term, of course). If you watch the positions of Michael's shears, you'll notice that he finishes each piece pointed at 180 degrees- or perfectly even with the top of the head. His teaching is that the angle of the shears dictates the results, so it's important to have the shears in perfect position every time. "These bangs have got to go," says Michael. Michael snips off the bangs with no hesitation. So many stylists are indecisive, but not Michael- he sees the result like a finished artwork, and snips away the rest!!
