Officer Milano (the judge's nephew) testifies that he observed Ms. Costanza make a right turn while a child was in the crosswalk, narrowly missing the child. He testified that Ms. Costanza's hair was flying in her face, and may have been the reason she didn't see the child. Ms. Costanza is found guilty and sentenced to have her hair cut short. In the room behind the courtroom, the bailiff is already cutting another defendant's hair, so he orders the defendants to start cutting each others' hair. Reluctantly, they comply, and the snipping begins. Ms. Costanza accepts her punishment stoically, knowing that she could have killed the youngster in the crosswalk. LITTERBUG Sophia Pizzelini is accused of littering. The arresting officer testifies that she threw a cup out the window of her car on the Via Di Benigni. The defendant admits to throwing the cup out the window of her car, but says "the whole area is covered with litter, so my cup didn't make any difference." The judge sentenced her to have her hair cut, and then to spend four hours cleaning up the block where she threw her cup and to bring the garbage to his courtroom before she could get back her driver's license.In minutes, her hair is cut short and she's sent out to pick up litter. PINCHED AMERICAN Patty Moss is a tourist visiting Italy. She is accused of assault. The victim, Relando Mussoli, claims the assailant kicked him in the private parts on the subway for no reason. The defendant claims that Mr. Mussoli pinched her "rear end" and she gave him what he deserved. The judge found the defendant guilty, ruling that she was not justified in kicking Mr. Mussoli, even if he did pinch her "rear end." "After all," said the judge, "This is Italy.... Not America."
