KELLI'S HEAD SHAVE

"No way!" was Kelli's response when we asked if she would ever consider
shaving her head. "I want a change, but I don't want to go shorter
than chin length," she said, running her hands through her silky long blonde
hair.

"That's fine," we said, contemplating the joy of crunching the scissors
and bringing her to chin length. Just as Kelli's chin length bob haircut
was starting, Monica arrived. When Kelli asked her how she was getting her
hair cut, Monica said, "I want my head shaved." |

MONICA GOES "ALL THE WAY"
As we cut Kelli's hair to chin length, Kelli and Monica exchanged thoughts
about their hair. Monica said she's been wanting to shave her head for the
past two years, and finally got up enough nerve to do it. Kelli asked if
she could stay to watch Monica's haircut.
"Of course," we said. "Maybe you'll change your mind and join Monica
with a shaved head." (It's OK to dream, right?) |

Monica jumps in the chair, admits she's nervous and excited, and
her haircut begins. We give Monica a "Pixie" haircut similar to what Elizabeth
Taylor wore in the 50's.
She likes it a lot, but wants it "ALL OFF." |

As the clippers roar down the middle, Kelli tells Monica, "You're
gonna look SOOO GREAT!!"
At that moment, I began to think that Kelli might follow in Monica's
footsteps. Monica smiled throughout her haircut. "I've been wanting to do
this for two years," she said, "I feel so free. I love it!!"
The minute we finished Monica's headshave, Kelli jumped in the chair
and said two words- "SHAVE ME." |

KELLI'S DECISION
"Are you sure about this?" we asked Kelli.
"Yes!" she said and seconds later, the girl who said "No way" was on
the way to shaving her head.
(And yes, sometimes dreams DO come true.) |

TAKE IT OFF!! TAKE IT ALL OFF!!
Later on, as I was sweeping Kelli and Monica's hair up off the floor,
Lisa arrived.
Minutes later, we were "taking it all off!!"
