Andrea is 10 seconds away from having her head shaved. She's still smiling, but she knows that time is running out for her hair. "I'm ready!!" she says, "Let's go!!" Don't recognize this picture? It's because you're seeing it for the first time, just like the other pictures we're posting this week.
9 SECONDS
Andrea is both nervous and excited. She has prepared herself mentally for her headshave, and is planning to have a good time doing it. 8 SECONDS
Andrea 's face belies her fear. Will it look good? Is this a good idea? 7 SECONDS
Mary, who has been boisterous and excited up to this point, gets a little quiet as the reality of what she's about to do lands at her doorstep. She met Andrea about 10 minutes ago, and now she's about to shave Andrea's head!! Mary's performance in the role of "barberrette" will easily be nominated for "Best Headshave Performance" as she adds ruthlessness to the handle of the biggest, fattest, widest, loudest, hungriest, coolest clippers you ever saw!! 6 SECONDS
Mary finds the switch, flips it, and the clippers ROAR to life. The sound of the clippers fills the room, and suddenly the room gets quiet. There are 12 girls in the room- all models- watching- holding their breaths. You could cut the atmosphere with a knife. 5 SECONDS
Everyone's heart rate is up- especially Andrea's!! There's excitement in the air. Everyone knows the "moment of truth" has come. 4 SECONDS
Andrea looks around the room. She knows she's the center of attention.
3 SECONDS
There are 12 young women watching. They are all getting their hair cut today. Will seeing Andrea have her head shaved influence how short they get their hair cut? You might be surprised by the answer!! 2.5 SECONDS
Everyone focuses in on Andrea. Everyone holds their breath. If it weren't for the roaring clippers you could hear a pin drop. Mary raises her arm- events seem to go to slow motion now, almost as if in a dream. And yes, Andrea- this dream girl- is about to shave her head. 2 SECONDS
The clippers are poised. Let the fun begin!! 1 SECOND
Andrea looks in the mirror. She doesn't want to miss out on the run "right down the middle." 0.5 SECOND
Mary scoops up Andrea's bangs. She places the clippers to the top of Andrea's forehead.
BLASTOFF!!
BZZZZZZZZZ. It's the sound of Andrea's beautiful hair being clippered right to the scalp. Andrea smiles as she both watches and FEELS her hair being cut. B+1 SECOND
BZZZZZZZZZ. Andrea can now see a white path emerging from under the clippers. Her smile grows in this surreal moment.
B+2 SECONDS
BZZZZZZZZZ. The stripe across the top of Andrea's head goes deeper and Andrea's smile gets even bigger. She's on the roller coaster ride of a lifetime. You can only imagine how exciting it was to see this happen right before our very eyes. If you couldn't see it in person, you can see it on DVD, the next best thing. Winston Churchill once wrote, "If England shall last for 1,000 years, they may say that THIS WAS OUR FINEST HOUR," talking about the Battle of Britain. In the case of the Hair Enthusiasts, Andrea's haircut may have been our finest hour. To this day I would vote for Andrea as "Most Beautiful Bald Girl of All Time," and would be hard pressed to find people who would argue. She is young, gorgeous, daring and confident in her decision to shave her head- in short, she's OUR KIND OF GIRL!! Her enthusiasm, before during and after the haircut is unmatched. Andrea is a class act like none we've seen before or since, and we are pleased to offer the COMPLETE COVERAGE of this event on DVD for the first time. Every bit of Andrea's haircut is shown on DVD 205, with all the footage shot from Camera 1. Then as a bonus at the end of DVD 206, there's all the footage of Andrea's haircut from Camera 2. It's hard to imagine a time when Mary and Andrea were not together- knowing the history of what followed this day. And yet, 10 minutes before Andrea's haircut began the two of them met for the first time.

Who else got their hair cut at this event? Christina fought off a "full frontal" clipper attack, settling instead for a two inch trim of her long golden locks. Altogether, there were about 12 haircuts done on this day (who can count that high without taking off shoes?) and ALL OF THEM are included on this 2 DVD collection. READY FOR A BUZZ CUT
THANKS AGAIN!! Here are the "thank you's" we wrote the day after this event: As you can imagine, this was one wild and wonderful weekend. Before I talk about the events, there are some very special people to thank. To our modeling agent Ray, "Great Job!" To our Makeup Artist and Stylist Cathy, thanks for the hard work and great artistry both on makeup and hairstyles. To our photographer Rod, it was great working with you. Thanks to Natasha and Leslie for staying and helping us clean up the salon. You two were great! And to all the great models, thank you for being so wonderful!! We did a lot of makeovers in one day. We started at 9:30 in the morning and finished at 6:00pm. My favorite part of the event, aside from meeting these wonderful young women, was the professional photo sessions we had with each model, both before and after their makeovers. I have always felt we need to showcase the beauty of the short haircut in great "after" shots. Seeing these young women showing off their new haircuts and posing for the photographer was a lot of fun. I must note that it was weird having my hair cut by an army of women. The shot was planned as simply having the girls stand around me with clippers and scissors poised, but not to cut my hair. Somehow, these conspiratorial young women decided that wasn't good enough, and before I knew it, one of them plowed the clippers over the top of my head. The next thing I knew, they were all getting in the act, and in minutes all my hair was buzzed off. My only consolation was that no man alive has ever been shorn by such a beautiful mob of barberettes. WHO ELSE GOT THEIR HAIR CUT?
